Everything you need to know about navigating IMPRA, registering your works, and maximizing your performance royalties.

Understanding IMPRA

Neighbouring (Needletime) Rights refer to the legal rights of performers and record labels to earn royalties when their commercially released recorded music is broadcast on radio, television, or played in public spaces (like retail stores, clubs, or restaurants).
IMPRA collects and distributes Needletime/Performance royalties specifically for recording artists, performers, and record labels. SAMRO administers performing rights for composers and publishers (the writers of the song). CAPASSO administers mechanical rights for the reproduction of musical works.
Membership is open to all recording artists, featured performers, non-featured performers (session musicians), producers, and independent record labels who own the copyright to the master recordings.
